Music at Harris ECP is Rockin'! 

The Kodaly (click to learn more) based curriculum in the general music classroom offers our scholars the opportunity to grow their musicianship in the most creative and mentally stimulating ways.

Kindergarten goals: Rhythmic: Keep a Steady Beat! Pitch: High and Low pitch. Sing songs from many cultures in different languages. Learn elements (dynamics/tempo) of music through story and play. Share your families' heritage through music with me and your children! :)

1st grade goals: Rhythmic: quarter note, two eighth notes, Quarter rest and Duple Meter. Melodic: So, Mi and La. Read/Write/Improvise our known concepts. Sing songs from many cultures in different languages. Grow our learning in music elements

2nd grade goals: Rhythmic: half note, 4 sixteenth notes, quadruple meter. Melodic: Do, Re and Do Pentatonic. Read Write and Improvise our known concepts. Sing songs from many cultures in different languages. Grow our learning in music elements.

3rd grade goals: Rhythmic: two sixteenth notes followed by and eighth note, eighth notes followed by two sixteenth notes and internal and external upbeat. Melodic: Low la, low so, high do/Extended do pentatonic. Music Memory curriculum and contest. 

4th grade goals: Rhythmic: Syncopation. dotted quarter eighth, triple meter. Melodic: la pentatonic, fa, low ti. Read, write and improvise all our known concepts. Sing songs from many cultures in different languages. Grow our learning in music elements. Music Memory Curriculum and contest

5th grade goals: Rhythmic: Catch up on any missed concepts, deep study in reading, writing and improvisation projects. Melodic: catch up on any missed concepts. deep study in reading, writing and improvisation projects. learn the basics of classical guitar and basic chords. Music Memory curriculum and contest.
